Today marks the celebration of Mary Magdalene’s Feast Day, one that honors not only the pivotal and often-forgotten role Mary Magdalene played in history, but also the Divine Feminine within us all. She represents the archetypal Goddess and the Feminine in the Western World, but her symbolism encompasses so much more.

Mary Magdalene, otherwise known as Miriam of Magdala, Madeleine, Maryam or simply the Magdalene, ignites an inner knowing at the core of our essence about the breadth and depth of the Feminine Spirit. Some have come to know it as the Sophia energy (wisdom), or Shekinah (in the Judaic lineage), or the Goddess Durga (in the Hindu lineage), or Isis (in the Egyptian lineage). The list goes on. Unlike mystical and mythical Goddesses, Miriam once walked the planet as a living, breathing woman who faced challenges of patriarchy and was never truly seen, or recognized.

Tossed aside like an inconvenient truth by the powers behind patriarchal Roman thrones and later the male-controlled Catholic hierarchy, she was mostly unknown. People who took the time to probe deeper still looked through that tainted lens, leading them to misunderstand and devalue her role as a healer and teacher. This role, one could argue, was equal to that of Yeshua’s as the yin to his yang—complementary and
interconnected forces that together deepened the power of their healing abilities.

The Catholic Church took positive steps to right omissions and distortions over the years, first declaring her a saint in 1969. This new, elevated title extended beyond the Catholic Church. Also on board were the Eastern Orthodox, Anglican, and Lutheran churches. Second, Pope Francis created a major feast day in her honor 2016, decreeing she be referred to as the Apostle of Apostles. Nonetheless, Mary Magdalene’s centuries-old portrayal as a sinner and prostitute remained in the popular imagination. Her name has gained more recognition
since the discovery of the Gnostic Gospels at Nag Hammadi in 1945 which talked about Mary Magdalene in new and unexpected ways. This discovery undoubtedly helped draw attention to the Gospel of Mary, an ancient text found in upper Egypt in the late nineteenth century. These profound writings were purchased in Cairo but never released to the public until 1955 when they were finally published. Cynthia Bourgeault notes, “It would be twenty years longer before an English version appeared and still another twenty years before popular editions
became available.” Karen King reminds us that less than eight pages of the papyrus survive, which means that much of the Gospel of Mary is lost.

We’re undoubtedly not the only ones interested in her life who wonder whether the missing pages will ever be found. It is still a mystery.
Many questions about Miriam of Magdala remain unanswered. Indeed, several gaps persist, pointing to a larger, unacknowledged question: How many powerful and pivotal women have been written out of history and holy books? Even for scholars and historians who have investigated this period, there’s much they still don’t know.

As authors of her untold story and teachings–Magdalene’s Journey–we honor her as the Sacred Feminine, which embodies all aspects that archetypes across time represent (below the archetypes of the seven female apostles written about in our book)

As the equal to Yeshua, she was a teacher, but also his lover. She exuded love, resilience, aliveness, passion, fire and the grounded energy of Gaia. She represents flow and resilience as exemplified through her behavior following Yeshua’s Crucifixion, when the male apostles couldn’t go there. She represents embodied wisdom. She represents the oneness that comes from truly understanding the balance between the Divine Feminine and Masculine. The ebb and flow of life.

She represents grace and wonderment. The voice of the Feminine for you and among you, ready to merge with yours so you have the strength to carry on. She represents a lineage of the Goddess, of the Priestess, or Rituals and Ceremony, acts of which will help you remember your true Divine Nature. The Spirit self simply having a Human experience.

Miriam represents presence. Innate knowing. Holiness. Vibrancy. Sensuality. Pure light. Christ Consciousness energy of unconditional love. All of it.

It has been said that there is a Magdalene Path and we couldn’t agree more. It is a practice . . . an everyday one. Focus on Her energy and invite her wisdom in. With it comes the ancient Judaic lineage of mysticism, purification and tradition from the Essenes, Pagan land-based rituals she learned from living amongst the Druids, the Isis sect that brought women together in a sacred way and other best practices from what Yeshua brought back from his years living and studying in India.

We speak of some of these ancient teachings brought anew and the overlapping parallels between traditions in Magdalene’s Journey. You won’t find religious dogma in this story nor in Yeshua’s teachings which are layered into Magdalene’s narrative like an exquisite and treasured tapestry from yesteryear. When Magdalene’s Journey talks about Biblical texts, it is merely to suggest that omitting or changing Yeshua’s original teachings in these texts served Roman and later Catholic Church power structures. When Yeshua walked the planet, rather than relying on external authorities, he emphasized an inward journey, a teaching that remains paramount today.

It is the essence of his message that the kingdom lies within. So too was his pointing to love as the glue that binds humanity and the cosmos itself. In sharing Her story, we hope to provide a modern enhancement to reality as we have been conditioned and wired to accept it with our linear minds and constructs. The book attempts to capture a universal and revolutionary message about Miriam’s and Yeshua’s lives, now recreated in a period that can show us a new, fuller, and more tangible understanding of it. Deep in your soul, regardless of what sexual orientation you most identify in this lifetime, you’ll feel her universal truth through the words on the page and the teachings laced throughout, woven in like exquisite chocolate layers of your favorite decadent cake. Her Spirit embodies radical truth and Her Voice a humble one. Attune to her stillness and awaken the deepest part of your soul. This journey alone will expand your consciousness in ways you never imagined.

Moving far beyond the Patriarch, we take a rich and bold look at two thousand years ago. Miriam’s voice from yesteryear offers a fresh perspective on an imposed and antiquated narrative about their lives and teachings. Our hope is that it transforms the way you perceive and experience God/Godde, consciousness, and science as well as our role on this planet. As you push beyond your comfort zone, maybe you might even reconsider your definitions of imaginary, visionary, reality, and truth. Miriam’s story may prod you to re-examine history as well as answers to life’s most pressing and paradoxical questions about humanity’s very existence.
